In his role as a licensed tour guide in Charleston, SC, Mark drives carriages for Palmetto Carriage Works, one of the largest carriage operators in America. With Rebel Sinclair, Mark is co-owner of Black Cat Tours, a Charleston-based walking tour company which specializes in the OTHER side the Holy City - ghosts, haunted locations, murders, prostitution, paranormal investigations, wayward ministers and other wicked history.
Mark and Rebel are affiliated with L.E.M.U.R. (the League of Energy Materialization and Unexplained phenomena Research) which is one of the United States' foremost paranormal research teams. Founded in 1995, L.E.M.U.R. is headed by Joshua P. Warren, one of America's most renowned paranormal investigators. Mark has participated in the paranormal investigation of the historic Charleston City Jail and in October 2007 traveled with L.E.M.U.R. to assist in the investigation of the Bermuda Triangle and the Pirate's Dungeon in Nassau. He is always anxious and willing to follow Joshua and the L.E.M.U.R group on their next adventure.
Mark also gives speeches, conducts lectures and entertains corporate groups on a wide variety of topics dealing with Charleston history. Mark's Wicked Charleston Power Point presentation is funny, edgy, ribald, controversial, and always entertaining. Sure to upset S-O-Bs everywhere!
He has lectured church groups not only about Charleston religious history, but also prostitution history, two subjects which often intersect in The 'Holy City'. He also delves into slave uprisings, serial killers of South Carolina, Prohibition in Charleston, Confederate history, Revolutionary Charleston and the strong women of the low country.
In short, Mark presents Charleston as it is, and has been: a fascinating city with a vibrant history that ranks as one of the most important in American history.
